  4. The falls have an interesting spout feature about 50 feet (15 m) below the crest due to an upturn in the rock face. During high flow times, the spout can shoot water over 10 feet (3 m) off the rock face. The water running over Silver Cascade originates in Buffalo Canyon, passing over St. Mary's Falls and Silver Cascade Falls before merging with North Cheyenne Creek down stream of Helen Hunt Falls.Silver Cascade Falls can be reached by hiking a short but steep trail up from North Cheyenne Canyon road at the Helen Hunt Falls trail head. The trail is less than 0.5 miles (0.80 km), but steep in places and the footing can be slippery, especially when wet or when frozen over during the winter months. Care should be taken especially at the top of the falls, as the granite face of the falls is polished, slippery, and much steeper than it appears.[2]

  5. Situated in the 'Princess of Hill stations', Kodaikanal, the Pillar Rocks have become a lovely picnic spot. Constituting a beautiful mini garden; the place is named so as it has three vertically positioned boulders reaching up to a height of 400 feet. The aura here is full of affection and is evidence of a great love story. The 'white cross' which once existed on these rocks represented David Gell's excellent tribute to love. The view of rocks is not something to be missed. They stand as an untouched miracle for the tourists visiting Kodaikanal.

The pillars are famous for providing bird's view of nearby surroundings. The chambers between these two massive rocks are called the Devil's Kitchen. Fewer times you might find rocks covered with mist and clouds, but when the ways become clear nothing beautiful than this could be ever seen. Jutting straight away from the hills that surround them, the pillar rocks are majestic. You can come here, sit and relax as you soothe your eyes over the high hill ranges and clear skies. Moreover, do not forget taste the potato and onion bhaji which is served outside the mini garden.

  18. Hi my self Chethan from Cipet-IPT . Today I am going to say about silver cascade falls. The Silver Cascade Falls is one of the must-visit places when you’re travelling to Kodaikanal. The falls will make you fall in love💖 with it at first sight. The falls is 180Feet in height which adds additional beauty to it. It is very near to the road and it makes the falls is apparent to everyone who goes to Kodaikanal.
Despite thinking of stepping into the water, you can enjoy taking selfies đŸ¤ŗ and observe the taste of fresh air. If you’re hungry, try healthy snacks like MangoesđŸĨ, Pineapples🍍 and such, instead of oily items. Taking selfies is the best thing to do here as the place seems to be created to take pictures 😎.

It used to be known as suicide point because of the dangerous valley which is dense and deep; below the point of more than 5000 feet drop.

Located at a distance of 5.5 km from the Kodaikanal Lake, the Green Valley View not just offers a gorgeous view, but is also surrounded by a lot of monkeys. On the way to the point, there are several shops which offer homemade chocolates, ornaments and a wide range of flowers.

The best time to visit the Valley View is between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM as the valley gets covered by mist as the day advances making it difficult to have a clear view.

This place is believed to be the dwelling place and burial site of the pre-historic man who belonged to the Iron Age and Stone Age. They are known as dolmens and Kistavens.
Situated nearby the Parvatha Vihar and the Pannikadu village, the dolmen is raised out of two huge erect slabs covered by a huge flat slab.
The sands of time brought destruction to several dolmens, so only two survive now. One is found at the Ghat Road near Periyakulam and another 2 km away from the hamlet of Pannaikadu.

Care should be taken especially at the top of the falls, as the granite face of the falls is polished, slippery, and much steeper than it appears.

  86. Kodaikanal, the paradisaical hill resort is a tourist's haven that transports the weary city slicker to an Utopian Elysium. Amongst the notable tourist attractions that are peppered all over hill station, the Kodaikanal Dolmen Circle deserves special mention.

According to the dictionary, dolmens are a tripod like structure that buttress a megalithic crypt and date as far back as the Neolithic era.

Kodaikanal Dolmen Circle is one of the leading anthropological sites, dotting the Indian subcontinent. The innumerable dolmens and kistavens provide a fascinating insight into the lifestyle of the prehistoric man.

Extensive research and years of excavation have revealed that the dolmens served the purpose of abodes or hideouts for the ancient man.

However, it is speculated that rather than living, the people kept their valued possessions in the dolmens.

In fact, several copper and brass ornaments and utensils have been unearthed in the dolmens. The kistavens on the other hand, primarily functioned as a burial ground for the ancient man.

There’s a point on Kodaikanal’s 10-Mile Road from where you can keep driving towards popular photo spots like Guna Caves and Pillar Rocks or take a U-turn. Most road-trippers never did; the pandemic changed all that. Local authorities blocked access to Kodaikanal’s tourist hotspots, as part of COVID protocol, and suddenly that underexplored detour came into the picture. That U-turn leads to Poombarai, a village 50 minutes away from Kodaikanal lake, the very heart of this popular hill destination in Tamil Nadu. Poombarai’s mix of sweeping valley views, terraced cultivations, a historic temple, and access to scenic spots like Kookal lake were first discovered by Tamil Nadu’s digital influencers. Now it’s on Kodai’s tourist radar.

  95. In 1906, with a view to growing valuable timber, Mr. Bryant started the Kodaikanal pine plantations in the south-west of Kodaikanal.

The pine forests are one among the preserved treasures of Kodaikanal which would mesmerize the tourists by its ambiance. This place is a gift of Mother Nature for people who love photography.

These pine plantations are apparently pretty familiar with the young Israeli people at Vatakanal. This place is a gift of Mother Nature for people who love photography.

Apart from Shola trees and Eucalyptus trees, there is lot of Pine trees found across many parts of Kodaikanal. However, only two sites have become popular among the tourists as the travel destination. As there are two pine forests, the local people call them as Pine Forest 1 and Pine Forest 2

Pine Forest 1 is located on the observatory road near the Solar Observatory. This Pine Forest is comparatively crowded with the tourists. A lot of local vendors selling fresh carrots and fruits can be found at the entrance of the forest.

Pine Forest 2 is located near Moir Point. Pine Forest 2 is generally not crowded like Pine Forest 1. It is unusual to find the vendors in this forest. The horse riding options are available here. Thus, this place is more attractive than Pine Forest 1.

This is definitely a lovely place which would mesmerize the tourists. It is said that the British Forest Officer H.D.Bryant planned and planted the pine trees across Kodaikanal in the early years of 20th century CE. If you go a little deep into the pine forest, you would find a lot of opportunities for photo shoot. A lot of South Indian films were shot in this location.

  97. The pillar rocks. :

There is a story related to this fantastic viewpoint which not many people know. When you visit it, the locals might tell you after being asked several times. A man David Gelli who had fallen in love with the beauty of Kodaikanal used to visit this place frequently. His last visit to the town was with his newlywed wife, Irine Gelli. Who knew their honeymooning would take an ugly face? As they were busy clicking pictures by keeping the huge rocks in the background, Irine slipped and fell into the depth of these pillar rocks. Unfortunately, she died.

After a few days, David not caring about his life, managed to reach the top of the rocks where he placed a wooden white cross (symbol of his love). He returned to the place after three days for the final time. After that day nobody saw him or heard of him. It is believed that he jumped off the cliff for the sake of uniting with his beloved wife. The Christian Church which they had visited before leaving for the pillar rocks had their names in its visitors' register. This register helped in tracing the names of these two lovers.

During this time of the days, the valley can be sometimes seen covered in white mist that passes between the trees, crossing its refreshingly green meadows. The view of clouds passing through you, the sight of greenery till your eyes you could see is an experience worth remembering.
